Save your tabs and Panorama tab groups in Firefox 4

When Firefox 4′s tab grouping tool, Panorama, had its keyboard shortcut changed to the finger-breaking combo of Ctrl+Shift+E, we thought Panorama would get dropped before FF4′s final release — but, thankfully, it made the cut!
If you’ve used Firefox 4 and Panorama, you might have noticed that Mozilla’s new browser doesn’t always save your tab groupings when you close the browser — a bit of a pain, if you spend a long time setting up the perfect groups! This is tied into the removal of the ‘Save and Quit’ dialog box — and enabling Panorama tab group saving is just a matter of re-enabling the Save and Quit dialog.
Open a new tab and head to about:config. Click through the warning and type ‘quit’ into the filter box. Double click browser.showQuitWarning to change its value to true (see image after the break). That’s it — now you’ll have the option of saving your tabs, and thus tab groups, when you close Firefox.

Samsung: We’re still not into 3D smartphones
By now you may have already seen a handful of “leaks” on Samsung’s imminent Galaxy S III, but if you ask us, they all smell like a cruel prank on anticipating fans. As far as we’re concerned, the only reliable tidbits so far are the GT-i9300 and GT-i9308 codenames (the latter likely a TD-SCDMA variant for China Mobile) on Samsung’s support page; along with murmurs from executives about a certain quad-core chipset and a release date. Funnily enough, we just received the following statement from Sammy who’s probably not too happy about some of the speculations out there:
Although Samsung Electronics is constantly exploring new technologies for our mobile devices, we have no immediate plan to include displays featuring 3D technology in our upcoming smartphones.
So there you have it: the upcoming Galaxy S III, along with its new siblings, definitely won’t feature a 3D display; and you can certainly forget that 4-inch 3D handset we heard about last February. Unless, of course, LG can convince its Korean buddy to think otherwise.

Let’s Ditch Paper Tickets (So We Don’t Have to Force Our Dogs to Vomit Them Up) [Tickets]
Did you hear about the unfortunate man whose dog ate his tickets for the Masters? He forced his dog to vomit, then pieced back the chewed up tickets as proof of his purchase. That’s disgusting. But what can you do when a physical ticket is your only way into golf’s most iconic tournament? Or your favorite band’s concert, or that touring Broadway show? As far as systems go, physical tickets are as broken as they come. More »

Why You Might Sound Like a Smurf on Venus [Space]
Ever wondered what natural sounds you would hear on another planet? Although some spacecraft have carried microphones, sound has never been reliably recorded in an alien atmosphere. But now, thanks to simulations created by Tim Leighton from the University of Southampton, UK, and his team, you can hear what Mars and Venus would sound like. More »
